Black Owned Businesses to Support in COS

June 2, 2020

UPDATED 6/9/2020

It is SO important for us to support black owned businesses. Black Lives Matter, and I’m proud to support the wonderful Black owned businesses in Colorado Springs.

This is a collective list based on input via social media and my own personal knowledge. If a business is incorrectly listed here OR you have a business you’d like added, please let me know and I will adjust. This list is mostly restaurants, however I’m adding other businesses as they’re brought to my attention. Check back often, as I’ll continue to update this list with names and links to the businesses.

I plan to highlight black owned restaurants on Instagram (follow along here) through the rest of the week – so if you have a favorite meal at any of the Black owned restaurants below, drop a comment so I can check them out and show them some love.

Please remember that due to COVID-19 some businesses may be temporarily closed, have limited hours, or only offer take-out.

            Hi Alice,

Sorry I’m just now seeing this comment. I haven’t updated this list since it was created (it took me literally days to create this), but will look into creating some type of updated list this summer. I’m a one-woman show and it’s a big time commitment to do an update and I want to make sure I do it right if I do!

You should check our Taste Bud Rescue. It’s a Black Owned Food Truck. They serve soul food! The ribs fall off the bone, the catfish is delicious & the sweet potato pie is off the chain!

    Hi Sarah,

I’m a Colorado Springs native as in I’ve spent (aside from college) my entire life here. I’d never mean to offend anyone or erase years of violence. The word native is also a synonym for local. In the way that I use it, I am referring to it in that meaning and not in reference to my heritage. That said, I’d love to have a conversation about this as I want to learn and grow and be sure I’m not throwing around a word that isn’t OK. Could you please email me?

I would like to point out that Beauty Bar is not a black owned business. I worked for them, they are Asian owned and their location on Tejon has a black manager.

      Hi Mari,

While Uyen is asian, Chris Morrison is black and is a partner, so while it’s not ONLY black owned, it is a black owned business.

Hi! Is it possible in the future for addresses/plots on a Google Map to be added to this page? (or links to the businesses that may not have a permanent location like food trucks). I live up on the Colorado Springs-Monument border, I’ve looked up and visited some of these businesses thanks to this list, but I’d like to be able to quickly find what’s near me. Although I have and will drive 30 minutes for good food!
