Plan Your Weekend Around Food: Local Events for Dec. 19, 20 and 21

December 18, 2014

The end of the week is nearing and that means it’s time to start making plans for Saturday and Sunday. Not sure what there is to do? Some local restaurants and bars in Colorado Springs have celebrations, cook-offs and parties happening all weekend long. Here’s a roundup of some of the events that I thought looked fun (and might be attending!)

Start your weekend off right with a trip to Bristol Brewing Company for its Ugly Sweater party. The party goes from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will be in the Wildcat Room in the Bristol Pub. While you’re there, purchase a Give Black Lager. Not only is it a tasty beer, but for every pint you purchase, $2 is donated to a Give! nonprofit of your choosing. This is available until Dec. 31 or until the beer is gone so take advantage of your chance to support local nonprofits this holiday season!

Mother Muff’s Kitchen and Spirits will host its Grand Opening party Saturday after opening the week of Thanksgiving. There will be drink specials, beer specials and shot specials as well as a special performance by the 40 Oz Freedom Fighters from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Stop by for a drink, good food and free, live music. While you’re there try their Bloody Mary’s with all the fixings or their yummy chicken and waffles.

Wyatt’s Pub and Grill will have its annual Ugly Sweater and Karaoke Party Saturday night. There will be drink specials, prizes and karaoke for those who’d rather sing in a bar than go Christmas caroling in the cold. The party starts at 9 p.m.

Manitou Brewing Company will host its first annual Chili Cook-Off Sunday starting at 1 p.m. For $7 get a pint of Manitou Brewing Company beer and unlimited chili! You’ll also get to vote on a winner. If you’re not a chili-eater that’s OK – MBC has awesome beer so stop by for a brew and pick something else to eat off their menu!

The Wild Goose Meeting House wants to get you in the holiday spirit and is hosting a Christmas Carol sing-along from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Drinks will be available the entire event, however if you’re interested in ordering from the regular dinner menu, Wild Goose is asking that you come in to order before 6 p.m. to help keep the kitchen running smoothly. If you can’t make it in before then, never fear. Starting at 6:30 p.m. they’ll switch to their “late night” menu which still has some food options on it! And if you aren’t a good singer don’t worry – just buy the people around you a few rounds so they don’t notice that you’re tone-deaf.

If you’re still feeling like the Grinch after singing along at The Wild Goose Meeting House, then stop by The Principal’s Office at Ivywild for it’s Keep it Classy Christmas Party beginning at 8 p.m. Bring a small gift to trade but leave that ugly sweater at home for this get together.

Do you know of a fun event happening at a local restaurant or bar this weekend? Post the details in the comments to let other readers know where they can find the fun and food.
