Chew-Chew Food Truck Takes Customers on Flavor Ride

November 20, 2017

Colorado Springs has really stepped it up over the past few years when it comes to food trucks. As the food scene in the Springs has continued to flourish, the number of food trucks and the quality of the food they offer has increased immensely. While it’s sometimes hard to track down which food truck will be where, it’s easy to find a rotation calendar of breweries and parking lots where food trucks are parked.

One of my favorite food trucks, Pig Latin Food Truck, hasn’t been operating for a few months as they work to open their new storefront location, but I’ve noticed a different food truck sitting in their usual spot on Boulder Street. Black Forest Chew Chew Gastrotruck has been operating at 116 E. Boulder Street and they have a fun menu filled with a variety of tacos, noodle bowls, and finger foods.

To really get a feel for what the truck has to offer, we basically just ordered a smorgasbord.

Overall, we loved everything we ordered. Anything fried was crunchy, any vegetables were fresh, and the meat was cooked perfectly. There was definitely a spicy kick to both the bulgogi taco and shrimp taco, so you’ll definitely want a drink of some sort to wash them down.

The Greek Lamb Taco was hands down my absolute favorite, while the friends I was with were obsessed with the Baja Shrimp Taco. The potstickers were cooked just right, and the zucchini fries were addicting. The zucchini fries came with a jalapeno ranch that I wanted to drink from the container. It was amazing.

To track down the Chew-Chew Truck you can check their website or Facebook. And order the zucchini fries.
