Springs Native

Life at 6,035 feet.

Eight months of starvation! Just kidding…

April 29, 2016

The past year has been one change after another for me when it comes to my personal and work life. And although I have continued to explore the Colorado Springs restaurant scene, unfortunately Springs Native had to take a backseat. There is good news though – summertime is coming up! That means it’s the season to eat and drink on the patio, which is pretty much a sport for me.

Seven things to know about the Broadmoor Seven Falls

August 14, 2015

After being closed for almost two years, Seven Falls reopened on Thursday renamed the Broadmoor Seven Falls. With a new restaurant and almost $12 million worth of renovations, the local attraction is looking good. I got a sneak peek Wednesday during its grand reopening, and there are a few key things to know before making a trip to the beautiful Colorado Springs spot.

The Cupcake Girls are cupcake queens

June 23, 2015

If I am going to spend my hard-earned treat calories, I almost always reach for a pizza rather than any sweets. A few months ago a blogger sent my company cupcakes from the Cupcake Girls and my will power flew out the door. The cupcakes were dense, moist and full or flavor.

Don’t wear tight pants to the Denver Biscuit Company.

June 9, 2015

When my best friend Lauren came to visit Colorado we stayed a night in Denver. When we woke up in the morning, we grabbed breakfast at the Denver Biscuit Company. We walked into the local restaurant rejuvenated from our short jog, but left feeling three pounds heavier from the ridiculously large plates we were served. It was awesome and miserable.

Give it another chance: experiencing Nosh for a second time

June 4, 2015

Every once in a while my friends find a restaurant that they enjoy and I just don’t care for it. Nosh used to be one of those places, until this past weekend. After a second night of dinner and drinks at the downtown restaurant, I’ve decided I’ll be spending many more happy hours drinking Sangria and munching on salad on their patio.

Odyssey Gastropub begins brunch service and it’s a good thing

May 8, 2015

I love a good brunch spot but restaurants with a delicious brunch menu as well as a decently priced bottomless mimosa are very limited in Colorado Springs. Odyssey Gastropub started its brunch service just two weeks ago and so far, they’ve done well. It’s a great menu with decent prices and the mimosas are good, but the food is where Odyssey’s creativity shines.

Brewer’s Republic unexpectedly serves up awesome salads

April 28, 2015

Located just north of Kiowa on North Nevada Avenue sits Brewer’s Republic. A tap room with an rooftop seating area, a changing tap list and a great menu, this local spot has huge potential.

Shaes brings late night eats and drinks to OCC

April 24, 2015

Shaes is a new hole-in-the-wall bar in Old Colorado City serving up beer in mason jars and cheap pizzas that will satisfy your late night hunger. With a menu offering pizzas and sandwiches, a liquor shelf filled with everything you can think of and an incredibly welcoming and genuine staff, this place should quickly become a Westside favorite.

Duca’s gives Pizzeria Rustica a run for its money

April 15, 2015

If I had a love of my life, it would be pizza. With Duca’s Neapolitan Pizza opening a second location on the south side of town, my life is (almost) officially complete. Their crust is chewy, sauce is flavorful and the toppings are fresh. For a pizza lover like myself, the new restaurant off Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard is a dream.

Brunch at Capitol Hill Mansion was fit for first class

April 7, 2015

Denver Style Magazine hosted a blogger get together called Diamonds in the Daytime and the event made me feel like I was first class! We began with a brunch at Capitol Hill Mansion and finished the morning with a tour of the Molly Brown House. Not only was the food delicious and the tour educational, but the bloggers I met were great company, too!
