Meadow Muffins reopens as Mother Muff’s

Meadow Muffins may have closed a few months ago, but the former westside restaurant and bar has now reopened as Mother Muff’s. It opens for breakfast, serves a full-menu all day and has an extensive drink menu. Although I miss Meadow Muffins, I think this new restaurant is just what was needed in Old Colorado City.

OCC has a hidden wine bar and it’s awesome.

When I began walking upstairs into what looked like it could be someone’s apartment, I was a bit skeptical of the supposed wine bar my mom had suggested. Once we got all the way to the top of the stairs though, all hesitation was replaced with sheer excitement in finding such a hidden gem in Old Colorado City.

Searching for the spiciest Spicy Chai

When it comes to anything chai, I don’t mess around. Almost every coffee shop offers chai in a variety of forms but he perfect cup is spicy enough that your throat tingles for a few seconds afterward, but still calm enough that you want to drink a second. Jives Coffee Lounge is my favorite spot to grab a tea and cozy up for a few hours.

I would eat Pizzeria Rustica every day

Pizza is my life. No, really. I love any kind of pizza – chain, delivery, thin crust, Chicago style, it really doesn’t matter. But if I’m looking for a great authentic Italian pizza, I head to Old Colorado City for a peach bellini and slice of Margherita at Pizzeria Rustica.

The final outdoor happy hour of the fall

The weather in Colorado Springs this fall has been exceptionally warm but the time for patio happy hours without a parka and gloves is coming to an end. It seemed to be one of the final warm days of the season, so mom and I decided to hit Crystal Park Cantina in Manitou Springs for one last outdoor drink.

I gave Mission Coffee Roasters baristas a mission…

I stopped by Mission Coffee Roasters after leaving the studio and wanted to grab a quick lo-cal drink to sip on my way to work. As soon as I walked in, I gave the baristas a mission – to make me something sugar-free. They gladly accepted and the result was delicious.

Oktoberfest feast from Schnitzel Fritz

We decided to celebrate Oktoberfest at work, and instead of firing up the office grill we ordered a German meal from Schnitzel Fritz. With such a large spread, if I had wanted seconds of something I’m not sure I’d have had enough room for any.

Blackberry Smash at Ivywild is a smashing success

I went to the Colorado Springs Young Professionals meetup at The Principal’s Office and decided to try something different. The Blackberry Smash was delicious. Made with freshly smashed blackberries, lime, bourbon, mint and something sparkling to give it some bubbles, for something sweeter than I’d normally get, I’d order it again.

Don’t mix up Coal Mine Dragon and Coal Mine Dragon…they’re different!

There are two Coal Mine Dragon Chinese restaurants in Colorado Springs. If that’s not already confusing, both are located on the Westside. Despite having the same name, the Uintah location wins in taste and has some great chicken entrees.

Sonterra’s Happy Hour is always my happiest hour

Sonterra’s Happy Hour is always my happiest hour

The margaritas at Sonterra Grill’s happy hour are some of the best in Colorado Springs. Sonterra doesn’t just have great drinks, but the discounted food and tapas offered during their happy hour really make it worth the sit at the bar. Plus, their happy hour goes later than most other restaurants in the Springs.
